Small businesses are sometimes at a disadvantage in the marketplace due to time and money constraints.  That's where we come in.  We believe that small businesses deserve all the advantages of larger companies through the use of SEO, deep analytics and design to create intelligent and intuitive marketing strategies for small businesses.  While the focus and implementation may change, all businesses can use a strong digital and traditional presence to enhance their offerings and increase exposure to new and current clientele.  With our in-house ability to do full SEO, web and social design, day-to-day social management, custom publications, traditional PR, branding, and so much more, we believe that we can give small business their best chance at success at an affordable and customer first price.

Rob Schwenker

Partner, Business development

Rob Schwenker was born in California and raised in North Carolina. He returned to California at 18 to attend the University of Redlands where he studied International Relations and served as associated student body President.  

Rob came to Santa Monica in 2003 where he began work at the Santa Monica Daily Press.  He began there as an intern, diligently fetching coffee and filing paperwork. It wasn’t long before he worked himself into an advertising sales job and within four years took over as manager of the sales department. After a three-year stint as sales manager, Rob was promoted to head the business side of the newspaper as Vice President – Business Operations.  After four years in that role Rob was promoted to Deputy Publisher and then quickly to Publisher in May 2015, overseeing all aspects of the Santa Monica Daily Press, a role he occupied through August of 2017 before founding 6th St. Communications.

Rob brings the expertise of a 14 year media career, having run a news organization in the world’s second largest media market to his clients. He specializes in developing marketing plans and public relations strategies that reach beyond the scope of traditional thinking, getting his clients engaged in their communities in powerful ways that drive revenues.

Rob is an active community member in Santa Monica and strongly believes in giving back to the community that’s given him so much and the one he’s proud to call home.

Rob is a past board of directors member and past President of the Santa Monica Kiwanis club, past board of directors member and past President of the Santa Monica Jaycees, current board of directors member of the Santa Monica Police Activities League, a member of the executive board of Buy Local Santa Monica, Vice Chair of the board of directors of Dance for a Difference and is currently chair of the board of directors of the Santa Monica History Museum.

In his time away from work and civic activities you can generally find Rob on a golf course or in some kind of fitness class. He likes just about anything active and is an avid sports fan with a lifelong allegiance to both the Dodgers and Lakers.


Josh Heisler  

Partner, design and digital strategy

 

Josh Heisler is a Southern California native.  Josh received his Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Acting from the University of California, Santa Barbara.  Prior to his BFA, Josh used his first 3 years at university to triple major in Economics, Communications and Pre-Law.

Josh moved back to Los Angeles after school where he pursued the arts and started The Theatricians Theater Group.  As is par for the course with many actors in Los Angeles, Josh learned many other trades while auditioning.   He learned graphic and web design as well as social media management while trying to help his own career and the actors around him.  He learned management after working at Craft Restaurant from 2009-2011. 

After Craft,  he left to assist in opening the Los Angeles branch of Shaw, Jacobsmeyer, Crain and Claffey, a Workers’ Compensation Defense Firm.  Josh took over as an executive legal assistant with a caseload of 210 clients.

Josh left Shaw, Jacobsmeyer to assist in the opening of John Elliot + Co clothing brand under the guidance of Aaron Lavee and John Elliot and learned more about the clothing industry.  While assisting in starting a brand new fashion line, he learned more about logistics, manufacturing and brand management.

Josh moved on from John Elliot + Co to open StayJax Pet Products his own line of Pet Products, which in 2015 fully launched and oversees design, manufacturing and sales.

While launching StayJax, Josh started at the Santa Monica Daily Press to assist with operations and legal services.  Soon after, Josh took over distribution services, circulation management, legal services management and special publication sales.

Josh is thrilled to use 6th Street Communications as a way to assist others in what he has learned over a successful 10 year career in the creative design field.  Beautiful design mixed with strategic marketing can lead to wonderful results.

When not creating, you can find Josh with his wife Amy and dog Jaxon hiking in the Santa Monica mountains or relaxing at a Dodger game.
